Privacy Policy
Open Loops · last updated 5 September 2026
Open Loops is an open-source application that runs entirely on your own computer. The developer operates no servers, collects no data, and has no access to your messages, your accounts, or your usage. This page explains what the software itself touches, locally.
What the app accesses
- Gmail (if you connect it): messages you sent and the threads they belong to, read via the Gmail API using an OAuth authorisation you grant. It creates drafts; it sends email only if you explicitly enable sending in its settings.
- Slack (if you connect it): your own messages and the conversations they're in, via Slack's official integration, under your own Slack user's existing permissions.
Where your data goes
- Your computer. The list of open requests, learned writing style, logs, and OAuth tokens are stored as plain files in the app's folder on your machine. Nothing is uploaded to the developer.
- Your chosen AI provider. The app works by sending relevant message content to the AI assistant you configure — Claude (Anthropic) or Grok (xAI) — under your own account with that provider, subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy. No AI provider is contacted other than the one you choose.
- Nowhere else. No analytics, no telemetry, no third-party services.
Google user data
Open Loops' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to provide the app's user-facing features described above — finding your unanswered requests and drafting follow-ups — and is never sold, never used for advertising, and never transferred except to the AI provider you configure, as necessary to provide those features.
Revoking access
- Gmail: remove Open Loops in your Google account permissions,
and delete
state/google_oauth.jsonfrom the app folder. - Slack: disconnect the integration in your AI assistant's connector settings.
- Everything else: delete the app folder — that is the entirety of its data.
